Sunet Scribe

Sunet Scribe is a transcription service – in other words, a service that uses AI to convert spoken language in video and audio files into text.

If you are a student at Lund University, you can use the service to transcribe interview material for, for example, an essay or a dissertation.

It is possible to transcribe several different languages. However, bear in mind that it can be difficult to achieve a completely accurate transcription with AI, particularly if someone has an unusual way of speaking. You will need to review the material afterwards to ensure it is correct.

Sunet Scribe is approved for use with material containing sensitive personal data. This means it is safe to use for your studies, but it also means that transcribed material is deleted after 7 days. You cannot, therefore, use Sunet Scribe as a storage service. Please note that you will need to arrange secure storage for your material. Ask your teacher or supervisor if you are unsure how to proceed.

Getting started with Sunet Scribe

Before you can start using Sunet Scribe, you need to gain access to the service via your student account. It can take up to two working days to gain access, so make sure you apply well in advance.

  1. Go to https://scribe.sunet.se and click on “Login with SSO”.
  2. Enter your student account details and password. You will receive a message stating that your account has been created but not yet activated. Even if it says you should contact an administrator, you do not need to do anything further at this stage; a request has already been sent to the relevant staff at the university.
  3. Once your account is activated, you will receive a confirmation email from Sunet Scribe. This may take up to two working days.
  4. Once you have received the confirmation email, you can log in with your student account at https://scribe.sunet.se.

If you encounter any problems accessing Sunet Scribe, please contact Lund University’s technical support for students by emailing supportcenter [at] lu [dot] se (supportcenter[at]lu[dot]se).
